Born in Detroit, Michigan Joel Steingold was raised in the most atypical of circumstances. Parented by a single mother and simultaneously being educated in Hebrew school in the suburbs and Detroit public schools in the city. Joel soon learned that through the power of comedy, drama, and performance he would find a way to make these two worlds connect. What started off as telling jokes and imitating people evolved into a love of being in the spotlight and entertaining those around him.
Joel studied for two years at the North Carolina School of The Arts in Winston-Salem, N.C. and graduated from Wayne State University with a BFA in Theatre. While in college he spent his summers interning and working at Mtv and Nickelodeon to get a well rounded understanding of how entertainment is brought to the masses.
In 2002 Joel moved to LA to focus on a career that has included commercials, hosting, voice overs, print work, and several roles on television. Being creatively diverse has become a major asset that allows him to share his talent of acting and performing through different mediums. Most recently, he can be seen as The Yard Sale King on the hit makeover show Clean House on The Style Channel.
